LSA Weight Upgrade
BIG news for the LSA world. The FAA is proposing a maximum weight increase to 3600 pounds for an aircraft to qualify in the LSA category. This change opens a wide range of existing aircraft to potential LSA categorization. Performance limits are still applicable, so that 3200 pound Bonanza won’t pass muster, but a four seat C-172 could. This expansion of LSA eligible aircraft is welcome news for general aviation, making flying more accessible and affordable.
